Elizabeth Vickers Garner, 101, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at home in Athens, GA surrounded by her family.

The Johnson County native lived in Savannah many years and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was also a resident of Hiawassee, GA for many years.

Surviving are her daughter Elizabeth Gayle Griffin (James), and son Gary Wilson Garner (Jenny), grandson Gary Wilson Garner, Jr. (Maryann), granddaughters Elizabeth Gayle Griffin, and Ginger Ariana Garner, and a great-grandson Matthew Wilson Garner.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel in Savannah, Georgia. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Remembrances may be made to Southside Baptist Church.

My deepest condolences to the Garner family for the loss of your dear loved one. During this most difficult time, may your hearts be comforted by Jehovah God, who is the God of all comfort and who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trials.(2 cor. 1:3,4). What a blessing to have had your dear loved one with you this long. I am sure, all the sweet memories Miss Elizabeth left behind will fill your hearts with joy and peace.

Since death wasn't God's originally purpose for mankind it's very painful for us to deal with , but PLEASE read the wonderful hope that the Bible holds out for us all at Revelation 21:3,4

I know Fran (she passed away July 31,2016) would wish me to tell you how mush we miss you and Wilson in the years since we last saw you and your family. Our loss is God's gain. I want you to know that I have very fond memories of all of you. I am now 87 and will see both of your parents in the NEAR future, God willing. We loved you and life is full of great years together.

Dear Garner Family, I just came acreoss your mother and grandmother's obituary and felt compelled to respond. She evidently was an insightful person having lived to see 101 years of age! That is simply incredible and what a blessing to have such a full live. I personally send my condolences for the life that has been stolen by death the enemy. My you have peace at this time.
